These “cookie and milk” kittens melted hearts everywhere after being welcomed into a loving home by a caring family.
A litter of kittens arrived at an animal shelter in Warren County, VA, urgently in need of foster care. The Animal Welfare League of Arlington stepped in to help, arranging for the kittens to be placed in a loving foster home.
Penny Richards, a dedicated rescue volunteer, quickly offered her assistance. Upon receiving the kittens, she discovered they were infested with fleas and required immediate care. “They needed two flea baths and constant combing during the first week to ensure every flea was safely removed,” Penny told Love Meow.
Despite their rough start, the kittens were incredibly affectionate from the beginning, instinctively snuggling together to form an adorable cuddle-puddle.
Once they were all cleaned up and their bellies were full, the kittens snuggled together into a cozy purr-pile and drifted off into a peaceful sleep.
In the weeks that followed, the orange kitten and her four siblings flourished under the round-the-clock care and attention of their devoted foster family.
The kittens were given names inspired by a “cookie and milk” theme, with the only orange tabby, Shortbread, standing out as the most vocal of the bunch.
Shortbread, along with her siblings Oatly, Silk, Almond Breeze, and Elmhurst, would cuddle together, wrapping their arms and legs around one another as they napped in perfect harmony.
Once the kittens got the hang of using their legs and wrestling, the foster room was filled with endless tumbling and playful rumbling.
When they finally mastered running, they began “bouncing around the room and chasing each other,” Penny shared with Love Meow.
